FEEDING INSTRUCTIONS
It is recommended that calves be given 2 to 3 quarts of good quality colostrum as soon as possible after birth, and another 2 to 3 quarts within the first 24 hours of life. Second milking colostrum may be fed afterwards for up to 3 days. Starting on the 4th day, feed a high-quality replacer according to the following directions.
Â
MIXING
Into 2 quarts of warm (110ËšF) clean water, add 10 ounces (1 cup)* of milk replacer powder and mix thoroughly with a whisk or power mixer. For larger batches, mix one and one-quarter (1.25) pounds of milk replacer powder per gallon of warm water.
Â
FEEDING
Feed the reconstituted milk replacer at a rate of 2 quarts per 100 pounds of body weight twice daily (4 quarts per 100 pounds of body weight
per day). Large breed calves generally require 2 to 2-1/2 quarts per feeding twice daily, while smaller breed calves may need 1-1/2 to 2 quarts twice daily.
